Hey teens! Have you ever felt like you’re slowly becoming a version of yourself that you don’t like? Maybe you’re lazier, more likely to give up, or even don’t believe in yourself anymore.
I understand that feeling, because I’ve been through those days too. But trust me, as long as you keep trying, you’ll never become the worst version of yourself. Today, I’ll share some tips to help you keep moving forward and become the best version of yourself! Let’s get started!
UNDERSTAND YOURSELF: WHERE ARE YOU ON YOUR JOURNEY?
Teenage is an emotional stage – sometimes you feel like you’re really “cool”, but there are also times when you’re self-conscious, comparing yourself to others. I used to be like that, always thinking: “Why am I not as good as friend A, not as pretty as friend B?” But then I realized, everyone has their own journey.
It’s important to understand where you are. Are you procrastinating on your studies? Are you neglecting hobbies you once loved? Take an evening, sit down with a notebook, and write down the things you want to change. Understanding yourself is the first step to not “slipping down” into the worst version of yourself.
THE SECRET TO CONSTANT EFFORT
1. Set small goals, but do them now
Don’t think of big goals like “I have to be the best in class!” right from the start, because it can easily discourage you. Instead, set small goals, for example: “Today I will study Math for 30 minutes without touching my phone.”
I have tried this method and it works very well! When you complete a small goal, you will be motivated to do bigger things. Gradually, you will see yourself progressing every day.
2. Find joy in what you do
Teenagers are often bored, right? Me too! But I have learned to find joy in small things. For example, if you don’t like studying, try decorating your notebook beautifully – study and chill at the same time.
Or if you like drawing, spend 15 minutes a day drawing a small picture. When you find joy, you will no longer feel that “trying” is a burden.
3. Don’t be afraid of failure – It is your friend
I know, failure in your teenage years can make you very sad – like not doing well in exams, being misunderstood by friends, or not achieving what you want. I used to cry all night because my grades were not as expected. But then, I realized: Failure is not the end, but a lesson.
Every time you fail, ask yourself: “What can I learn from this?” Gradually, you will become stronger and no longer be afraid of challenges.
4. Connect with inspiring people
Friends and family have a huge influence on you as a teenager. If you hang out with positive people, you will be inspired to try harder. On the other hand, if you hang out with people who complain a lot, you will be easily dragged down.
I changed my group of friends, choosing to hang out with people who always encourage me to learn and try new things. As a result, I became much more confident! Find good friends who help you become a better version of yourself.
5. Take care of yourself – Don’t forget to love yourself
Working hard doesn’t mean pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion. Teenagers need to take care of both your physical and mental health. Get enough sleep, eat healthy, and spend time doing things you enjoy – like listening to music, watching movies, or going for a walk.
I used to ignore my health because I was busy studying, but then I realized: If I’m not healthy, I can’t do anything well. So, love yourself, my friend!
YOU WILL BECOME THE BEST VERSION OF YOU IF YOU NEVER STOP TRYING
I believe that every teenager has the potential to become the best version of themselves. The important thing is that you don't give up, no matter how difficult it is. Every small step you take today - whether it's learning an extra lesson, trying a new hobby, or simply smiling at yourself - is the foundation for you to shine tomorrow.
Remember: You don't have to be perfect, you just have to work hard to not become the worst version of yourself. I believe you can do it!
